What and how about wine tours

What is a wine tour ?

Going on travel is a personal experience and even more a wine trip. A wine trip is fun and original! An authentic wine travel experience is :

  • tasting delicious unknown wines
  • discover and taste ancient grape varieties
  • discover ancient cultures
  • sleep in authentic accommodation such as castles or wine farms.
  • relaxing activities

A luxury wine trip to Sicily, a wine only trip where you focus 100% on discovering delicious wines, a wine trip combined with a special theme, such as nature, culture or around a certain activity such as horse riding or golf, no matter your ideas, we will organize it for you.

Wine tasting

Wine tastings are an essential part of the wine tour and the wine experience. During a wine tasting you often first get a tour of the winery and wine cellar. In this way you get to hear the story behind the wine making and the family that has held it for generations. Indeed, most wineries that you visit with us are small-scaled family-runned wineries. There are some larger wineries too but only when they have something special. When the tour is finished, you will taste a couple of wines. Your testing and tasting techniques will then be appreciated. After the wine tasting you can purchase a few bottles of wine from the winery if you wish.

If you have a special wish for a particular winery, please let us know. You can always request a free quotation.

Wine hotels

When you book a wine tour with us, you can be sure that you will sleep in the most authentic accommodation. How about sleeping at a wine farm? Or glamping in a luxury tent in a queensize bed ? Of course we also offer great 3 * superior, 4 * and 5 * hotels in our wide range of wine related accommodation possibilities.

A great wine tour experience is not only a matter of visiting authentic wine countries, discovering authentic cultures, but it is also a matter sleeping in authentic accommodation! In this way your wine tour becomes a truly authentic wine experience …

Discover authentic cultures during your wine tour

Eastern European wine destinations such as Romania, Moldova and Bulgaria, as well as Balkan countries such as Montenegro and Northern Macedonia are the least visited destinations in Europe to date, but definitely worth to visit a few days and discover beautiful cultures, beautiful churches, monasteries, markets, and so on. Just remember that in the past these were great wine destinations and among the oldest wine producing countries in the world.

The possibilities are endless. When you make a wine tour to one of our beautiful wine destinations, you are guaranteed to discover authentic cultures and taste delicious wines that you will not see in the supermarket !

We customize your tailor-made authentic journey to new and forgotten wine countries!

Endemic and authentic grape varieties

You probably heared of the Syrah grape, the Merlot or the Muscat? Have you ever heard of the Xinomavro or the Malagousia variety? Probably only the guru sommelier who works in a Greek restaurant or specialty store knows about them. Indeed, these grape varieties come from the northern Greek region of Macedonia.

In this way every country has its unknown special grapes variaties and delicious wines that result from it. If you want to go on a wine tour to Hungary, Moldova or Montenegro, you are guaranteed to taste delicious wines made from sometimes centuries-old grape varieties!

We compile and tailor your authentic wine tour to new and forgotten wine countries!

Can I do a wine tour in the winter?

Yes, of course you can! Wine tours are fun all year round. Every season has its advantages and disadvantages, special landscapes and more. A few wineries are closed, but this makes the pleasure of wine tasting and wine travel certainly no less.

When it comes to the weather, every season has its beautiful sides. Spring and fall have wonderful temperatures and are less crowded. While in the spring the vineyards become green and the grapes get bigger and bigger, they will be harvested in the fall. A wonderful season with the many autumn colors, the deep coloured grapes and so on. Autumn and winter are also the season to visit wine festivals and wine fairs.

If you do not like the cold, you can travel to South Africa in the northern winter for warmer temperatures, where it is summer while being winter in the northern hemisphere.

Is a wine tour expensive ?

When booking your wine tour with us, 3* superior accommodation and wine tasting are included as a standard. Other accommodation can be a bed & breakfast or a 4 *, even 5* hotel. In addition, the price depends on a number of other factors, including:

  • which wine destination you wish to visit for your wine tour
  • the period that you book your ticket, early booking or last minute
  • the type of accommodation you choose
  • including international airline tickets or not
  • whether or not including rental car
  • do you take any additional activities or not
  • and so on
