Wine castle Chateau Franc Mayne is located only 1 km from the centre of the village of Saint-Emilion, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Sheltered by its century-old trees, the Chateau Franc Mayne cultivates the charm of a unique environment. The ideal location of this small area makes it a privileged destination for wine immersion enjoying a beautiful wine castle.
Nature is ubiquitous, by the vineyard itself, but also a remarkable biodiversity. Hedges and bushes, ancient trees, dry stone walls are an integral part of Chateau Franc Mayne and fully contribute to the authentic atmosphere. It is not uncommon from 2019 to observe the work of horses on certain plots of the vineyard. This has everything to do with the transition that has been started to organic farming.
The accommodation
Family owned since 2018 and completely renovated in 2019, this pleasant 18th century residence offers five rooms, including a cabin in the heart of a cedar. Decorated with elegance and simplicity, the rooms reflect the atmosphere of a traditional Gironde house in the heart of the vineyard, ideal for enjoying the tranquillity of the countryside.
Depending on the time and season, the lounge, terrace, billiards room and heated pool invite you to dive into the world of the estate, the starting point for a friendly and relaxed castle life.
The winery
The special old quarry, one of the largest in this wine region, is the special feature of the property. The quarries show you the importance of the limestone plateau and the regional history through a route specially devised for the location.
Unique to Chateau Franc Mayne is the convergence of five large soil types, which symbolizes the Saint-Emilion winery. With this fact available, the Chateau Franc Mayne technical team set out to differentiate themselves in order to derive added value. Their belief is that when you know both the strengths and weaknesses of the area’s 7 acres of vineyards, you can make the most of it.
Finally, the owner’s heart beats daily with the mobilization of a close-knit team, fully invested in the property. Everyone plays their own role in the direction of the common goal that characterize this wine estate.
