Overnight.

DAY 2 – BELA KRAJINA

You will start your day by discovering one of the richest and most diverse Slovenian wine regions in the Bela Krajina (the Whitelands) region, named after the abundant white birches. Along the way you travel the river Kolpa, also known as the Amazon region of Slovenia, and enjoy the untouched nature. Upon arrival, you will participate in a workshop to make “Belokranjska pogača”, a savory cake and traditional welcome snack from the region. You make the dough, bake the cake and share the bread with your fellow travelers. After this you will visit two wineries and taste some excellent award winning wines, such as Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Yellow Muscat and the Modra Frankinja, typical of this area.

Overnight.

DAY 3 – BIZELJSKO

After discovering the center of Brežice and its remarkable medieval castle, explore the Bizeljsko wine region. Here you will discover the remarkable repnice wine cellars, unique to the Bizeljsko region. These wine cellars were once used to store turnips and are now more often used as wine cellars. The regions specialties are white, rose and sparkling wines. You will visit one of these wine cellars to taste some of the best and most famous Slovenian wines. After the wine tasting, continue towards Olimje, known for its peaceful surroundings and one of the oldest pharmacies in Europe, part of a still functioning monastery housed in a Renaissance castle.

Overnight.

DAY 4 – PTUJ AND JERUSALEM

Today you will discover during a walking tour Ptuj, the oldest city in Slovenia and which will take you all the way back to Roman times. The region is known for its white wines and incredible hospitality. After this, continue to Slovenian Jerusalem for your second wine tasting of the day. Legend has it that the crusaders arrived here. After noting that the wine was so great and the people very friendly, they adopted the region as their own and called it Jerusalem. Get to know Jerusalem, a wine region with over 2,000 years of winemaking tradition, by visiting the charming cellars and exchanging thoughts with other wine lovers during a wine tasting.

Overnight.

DAY 5 – MARIBOR AND BULL MARKS

Today is your second day in the Styrian wine region, a picturesque region with rolling hills, vineyards and quaint towns and villages. You will visit Maribor, the second largest city in Slovenia and home to the world’s oldest vine, included in the Guinness Book of Records. The 450-year-old vine was planted towards the end of the Middle Ages and survived battles, wars and diseases that destroyed everything. On the way, stop at an old winery located in the old town of Lent, next to the Drava River for a wine tasting before continuing with a visit to the vineyards. Although the oldest vine produces red wine, the Maribor area is best known for its incredibly aromatic white wines.

Overnight.

DAY 6 – GORIŠKA BRDA

Today you will travel to Goriška Brda (the “Gorizia Hills” in Slovenian). This wine region combines a fairytale landscape with rich cultural and historical traditions. Goriška Brda winegrowers tend to win the most awards from all Slovenian winemakers, a visit to this wine region is probably the highlight and an unmissable experience on this wine tour for this reason. You will stop in beautiful medieval villages and explore the “Tuscany” of Slovenia, not only covered with vineyards, but also with peach and cherry orchards. You will visit two wineries and taste excellent local wines in this incredible environment.

Overnight.

DAY 7 – VIPAVA VALLEY

Dotted with ancient villages and towns, the Vipava Valley is nestled under a mighty mountain range. Characterized by strong winds, especially the bora winds, it is one of the sunniest regions in Slovenia. The locals are cheerful and welcoming, known for their fruit and grape growing traditions, as well as great cuisine. The town of Vipava is located at the source of a river of the same name, which leaves the mountains in a delta-like shape. It has been an important place in the past where many noble families lived who left their mark on the city’s architecture. No wonder Lonely Planet has listed the region as one of the top 10 beaten track to visit. Enjoy wine tastings at a chic winery.

Overnight.

DAY 8 – LJUBLJANA

During the last day of this Slovenia wine tour, enjoy a guided tour of Ljubljana discovering the main sights in the city center. Visit the impressive Ljubljana Castle and discover the city on a boat trip on the Ljubljanica River that gives you a completely different perspective of Ljubljana. Enjoy a farewell wine tasting in Ljubljana.

After this you will receive a transfer to the airport for your flight back home… or an extension of your trip to another beautiful wine region of Hungary. If you want to extend your wine trip, you can also go to one of the neighboring countries, for example Austria, Croatia, or Hungary.
