The regions specialties are white, rose and sparkling wines. You will visit one of these wine cellars to taste some of the best and most famous Slovenian wines. Today is your second day in the Styrian wine region, a picturesque region with rolling hills, vineyards and quaint towns and villages. The 450-year-old vine was planted towards the end of the Middle Ages and survived battles, wars and diseases that destroyed everything. On the way, stop at an old winery located in the old town of Lent, next to the Drava River for a wine tasting before continuing with a visit to the vineyards. Although the oldest vine produces red wine, the Maribor area is best known for its incredibly aromatic white wines.

DAY 6 – GORIŠKA BRDA
Today you will travel to Goriška Brda (the “Gorizia Hills” in Slovenian). This wine region combines a fairytale landscape with rich cultural and historical traditions. Goriška Brda winegrowers tend to win the most awards from all Slovenian winemakers, a visit to this wine region is probably the highlight and an unmissable experience on this wine tour for this reason. You will stop in beautiful medieval villages and explore the “Tuscany” of Slovenia, not only covered with vineyards, but also with peach and cherry orchards. You will visit two wineries and taste excellent local wines in this incredible environment.

The locals are cheerful and welcoming, known for their fruit and grape growing traditions, as well as great cuisine. The town of Vipava is located at the source of a river of the same name, which leaves the mountains in a delta-like shape. It has been an important place in the past where many noble families lived who left their mark on the city’s architecture. No wonder Lonely Planet has listed the region as one of the top 10 beaten track to visit. Enjoy wine tastings at a chic winery.
