With this 7-day wine tour you will discover the landscapes of the Langhe region in Northern Italy, located at the foot of the Alps, famous for its rolling vineyards and Barolo wine. This land is blessed with rich and fertile soils that produce extraordinary specialties, including gourmet cheeses, delicious pastries and hazelnut pralines. Stroll in the vineyards between picturesque medieval villages, see elegant castles and medieval buildings. You have plenty of opportunity to enjoy the local cuisine and wine thanks to a cooking workshop.

Program

DAY 1 – ARRIVAL TURIN, NORTH ITALY (D)

Today you will arrive in the largest city of northwestern Italy, Turin. Upon arrival, you will be transferred from the airport to your hotel in the heart of this elegant city. After check-in at your hotel you will have a guided tour of Turin and you will see the most characteristic and representative monument of the city: the “Mole Antonelliana”, the symbol of Turin in the eighteenth century. The Royal Palace, the castle, the cathedral, all beautiful art and architectural must-sees. Afterwards you are expected in one of the most beautiful rooftop bars in the city with a view of the city. Afterwards dinner is in a wine restaurant.

DAY 2 – DISCOVER TURIN AND LANGHE – MONFORTE D’ALBA (B)

In the morning you will get a private transfer to Monforte, the heart of the “Langhe” region: this area is known worldwide for the landscape characterized by vineyards, high-altitude medieval hamlets, rivers and forests. Today you will visit two famous local wineries and enjoy wine tastings during which you will get acquainted with the Barolo wine. You will learn all about the characteristics of this small area that, depending on the type of soil, produces very different but excellent wines within a few kilometers perimeter.

DAY 3 – MONFORTE – BAROLO – MONFORTE (B)

After breakfast today you will take a relaxing walk along beautiful villages and you will see, among other things, their old watchtowers, small churches and square. Lunch is served in the village of Barolo of the wine of the same name.

After lunch, visit the Museo del Barolo and be offered a glass of wine at the Enoteca, either a local wine bar but not quite! In the afternoon transfer to Alba, the main town of the area and a visit to the archaeological site “Alba Underground”. Return to Monforte.

DAY 4 – MONFORTE – LA MORRA – MONFORTE (B)

You are not done with the Barolo wines yet! After a leisurely breakfast, travel to La Morra, a small village where you can enjoy breathtaking views over the vineyard-covered hills. Here you will visit two wineries including a producer of the Barolo ‘Brunate’ wine made from the harvest of a single vineyard. Then you travel to the second winery where they have been making wine for several generations. You will learn the history of this fascinating winery and discover their wines. Return to Monforte.

DAY 5 – MONFORTE – RODDI – NEIVE (B, L)

Today, after breakfast, you will be transferred to the small village of Roddi and follow the trails of the truffle. You will help in the search for the truffle with the help of trained truffle dogs and enjoy a tasting of the gems of the area … indeed that delicious luxury truffle. In the afternoon, a short drive will take you to Neive, a small village selected as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.

Overnight in a beautiful authentic farm.

 

 

DAY 6 – BARBARESCO AND COOKING LESSON (B, L)

The village of Barbaresco is located almost on the river Tanaro that separates the Langhe from the Roero. In this sleepy town you have some of the largest and most famous wine varieties. In the streets of this beautiful town, you will find several renowned local wineries. Enjoy a fun cooking class! Together with your chef, knead the dough for the tagliatelle, ravioli del plin, cappelletti and finish with a seasonal dessert. During the cooking class you can chat while enjoying a glass of wine together with homemade products. In the afternoon, visit one of the historic wineries for a wine tasting before returning to your farm.

Overnight.

 

DAY 7 – DEPARTURE (B)

After breakfast, and depending on your flight times, you will get a transfer to the airport for your flight back home… or an extension of your trip to one of the other beautiful wine regions of Italy such as Veneto or Cinque Terre along with Tuscany.
